FINAL PUSH FOR WILDLIFE AT COP15
As COP15 reaches its climax, Born Free urges the world’s Ministers attending this critical meeting of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity currently taking place in Montreal, to adopt a robust, transformative, measurable, and humane global framework for protecting nature and wildlife.
A much higher level of ambition is required to reverse the catastrophic loss of biodiversity, and to halt and prevent the exploitation of our precious wildlife, for the benefit of all forms of life.
In our joint letter with the World Federation for Animals representing over 50 animal protection organisations, we outline three specific recommendations that we believe are essential, namely:
- The full incorporation of the One Health approach
- The elimination of wildlife exploitation to protect nature and prevent future pandemics
- The removal of any reference to trophy hunting as a sustainable practice in the agreement
