BORN FREE WELCOMES MANAGING DIRECTOR KAREN BOTHA

Born Free is delighted to welcome Karen Botha as its new Managing Director.

Karen re-joins Born Free from David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation, where she was Chief Executive for two-and-a-half years. Prior to that role, she was Head of Enterprise & Partnerships at Born Free and was Project Manager for Pangea – the European Elephant Sanctuary – a Born Free initiative.

“Returning to Born Free to support its incredible work as Managing Director is a privilege, one that comes at a critical moment of time as the world’s spotlight is so firmly fixed on humans’ inequitable relationship with animals,” Karen said.

Will Travers, Born Free’s Executive President, added: “Karen’s senior management experience, inclusive style, and understanding of the wildlife sector at all levels will help drive Born Free to the next level as it delivers Compassionate Conservation, wild animal welfare and care, wildlife policy and education and community outreach. I am excited about the future and the next chapter in Born Free’s evolving story.”
