Bamfords new initiative for Born Free
BAMFORDS ANNOUNCES NEW CHARITY INITIATIVE FOR BORN FREE
Bamfords, the leading Auction House and Valuers, based in Derbyshire, has announced a new initiative to support the international wildlife charity Born Free.
The charitable scheme offers new ways for members of the public to donate when selling and buying antique items at auction, with Bamfords generously donating their commission from the sale of these lots.
Bamfords’ auctioneer and celebrity antiques expert James Lewis is a longstanding Patron of Born Free. He says: “Antiques are my passion, but animals are my true love, and being able to work with antiques to help wild animals with Born Free all over the world is a great honour. This is an opportunity for anybody who has something to sell to achieve a great price for their items while helping a most fabulous cause. We here at Bamfords are proud to be one of the first auctioneers to have voluntarily banned the sale of ivory and rhino horn some years ago and this is another step we are making to help those species under constant threat.”
Much-loved actress and Born Free co-founder, Virginia McKenna OBE, says: “This incredibly generous decision by Bamfords is very touching. It shows, in a particular and unusual way, that life is not always about making a profit. James Lewis has been a Patron of Born Free for many years and his unswerving loyalty is hugely valued. My sincere thanks to everyone at Bamfords from all of us at Born Free”.
Those looking to sell an item with Bamfords can consider the following options:
- Donate the commission!
If you have an item of value that you would like to sell at auction, why not sell it with Bamfords? Choose to support Born Free through the sale, and Bamfords will donate your 12.5% seller’s commission to the charity. - Auction an item in aid of Born Free!
If you would like to support Born Free by donating the full proceeds of an item, please arrange for it to be transported to Bamfords for valuation and cataloguing. Once the sale has taken place, the amount achieved, as well as the 12.5% seller’s commission, will go straight to Born Free.
