Back with a ROAR this spring.
Prepare to get messy! Our new kids’ magazine is crammed with fun activities and intriguing facts to get your wild child into nature. And, it’s available free, explains Education Officer Charlie Smith.
Our latest issue of Hear the Roar!! is the perfect way for young readers to discover all things wild. This spring, explore the wonderful world of tiny animals, learn about wildlife superheroes and even discover how to plant your own ‘gorilla poo’!
Hear the Roar!! is Born Free’s exciting and informative children’s magazine, which comes out twice a year. For those who love wildlife and fascinating new facts, it’s an excellent way to encourage reading for pleasure. A growing number of studies show that reading can have a positive impact on both children and adults, and their future.
In this, our tenth edition, we focus on ‘animal superheroes’ – ambassador species who play an extra special role in their habitats. Hear the Roar!! is packed with amazing information about a host of different animals, plus thought-provoking articles and the latest Born Free news. This issue also includes fun and creative activities to inspire young readers to take part. Prepare to get messy and recreate an ape’s digestive system to grow seeds from gorilla ‘poo’, or embody a wild boar to plant a wonderful wildflower meadow!
Want your little ones to get hold of Hear the Roar!! for the upcoming half term? A green, digital copy of each issue can be accessed, free of change from our website’s Publications Page.
Can my school receive a printed Hear the Roar!! magazine?
Yes! Our aim is to inspire and educate children from all walks of life about wildlife and the environment, whilst encouraging key reading skills. As well as online digital copies, we provide two physical copies of each new magazine, completely free of charge, to primary schools across the UK.
We know school finances have been hit hard over the last few years so, by providing Hear the Roar!! freely to schools, Born Free can help provide much needed extra-curricular materials for students, who may not otherwise be able to access them.
Interested? Here’s what some of the teachers already signed up, have to say:
